Go to your System Preferences/Keyboard/Modifier Keys.
You can't change all the keys, but the Shift, Caps Lock, Command, Control and Option keys are customizable.

Lenovo decided to place a 'close key', which closes your open window when you press it, right next to the volume up and down keys.

Lets disable that sucker with sharpkeys!

But wait, when I try to choose the key by pressing it, it closes sharpkeys!

It seems to be one of the >30 'unknown's on the menu. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can disable this key?

I use the Zykon K1 for gaming and the Logitech K350 keyboard for typing.
I want to use the K1 for all my keybinds and the K350 for the in game chat, my problem is now that when i set a key to a diferent action bothe keyboards save that setting and when i'm writting almost all the keys are relocated

Does anyone know a sharp keys equivalent for a mac? or if there is a download available for a mac? I know there is some key remapping out there for a mac, but none of them are as good, and as customize-able. Any responses help! Thanks!

I recently installed and changed the right windows button, to the right ctrl button. So I had a "blue screen of death" and then it worked, and windows just fine. But when I try to shut my computer down, it restarts again, even though I push the "turn off" button inside windows

Hello,

I bought a new keyboard of the brand Trust CLICK HERE to model.
The keyboard has a key (star) who do not do anything and I want to change it to open my e-mail.
I select ADD, then TYPE KEY, and when I choose the star key to see that I pushed (0_100), then I get an error message (You've Entered a key That Sharp Keys does not know about)
Someone who knows how to fix it?

I am having a minor problem, however, with rekeying a concurrent problem I am having with my computer. A key known as "e0_401c" is typing continuously on my computer when I first turn it on until I type another key. While generally not a severe problem, "e0_401c" seems to be something like the right spare 'enter' key, therefore it causes my computer to accidentally run programs over and over and checks prompts for me until I am able to get it to recognize that I pressed another key. Unfortunately the SharpKeys 3.5 release doesn't seem to have a mapping for this tricky key. Might anyone be able to help? Thank you!

I'm very much a noob at this stuff but was wondering if someone could help remap the power key on my laptop. It's some PoS Gateway and the power button takes anywhere from 15 to a bajillion clicks to turn the damned thing on. It gets a kind of annoying as you might imagine. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

I've read the faq where it says that you cannot map a combination of keys to a single key. I take it the other way around isn't possible either?

What I mean is, my multimedia keyboard has special keys for cut, copy and paste, and I would like to map these to ctrl-x, ctrl-c and ctrl-v. Is there any other tool that let's me do that?

AllChars (on sourceforge) can do that. Well, not a single key, but it lets you compose all sorts of special characters. You press a special key (configurable, I use Right Ctrl), followed by a combination of 2 keys.

* and . gives: •

p and p: §

c and |: ¢

r and o: ®

0 and .: ⁰

etcetera.

New Post: Simultaneous Keyboards remapped differently

Hi!

With RSI creeping up, and split keyboards being overpriced, not to mention hard to obtain locally, I am looking for alternatives.

An idea that appeals is to use TWO (USB?) keyboards simultaneously - with the keys on both remapped to obtain the standard QWERTY pattern in the center region.

Thus the keyboard on the left will have its QWERT, ASDFG, and ZXCVB keys remapped to its right side, while the keyboard on the right will have its YUIOP, HJKL;' and NM,./ keys remapped to its left side. etc. Physical keys will also be swapped to obtain a split-QUERTY like keyboard with extra unused keys on the outside on both physical keyboards. The two keyboards can now be placed as near or far as comfortable for each user.

Unfortunately, I am not too sure how to accomplish this - keystrokes of both keyboards will have to be captured and treated differently based on which USB port they came from. Can this even be done merely by fiddling with the windows registry? Does Sharpkeys or any other keyboard re-mapper accomplish this?

Greetings!

I just bought an inexpensive Gateway laptop, Gateway NE56R13U. It has one of the most bizarre keyboard layouts I have ever seen but for the price I can't really complain.

I went to remap/disable the '€' and '$' keys. Neither one of them reported any value. I used a different key reporting tool it claimed the '€' is LAlt+NumPad 8, the '$' is LAlt + NumPad 6.

Is it safe to assume that since the key presses are being interpreted as multiple key strokes I am out of luck?

If you are in the US and want to see the keyboard it is at Target. Really, really weird. No Home or End keys, they are Fn + left arrow & Fn + right arrow respectively.

Hello. I work with another language that requires someone to activate capslk and then also hold down the shift key to access certain symbols. This mode also allows me to access the original letters at the same time, thus is a good mode to be in all the time. Can I make a key to toggle shift like we toggle capslk and have both capslk and shift "on" at the same time without holding any extra keys down? I need to access the numbers keys for the special characters and need to keep changing which shift key I'm holding down. It's obnoxious to have to access the number 1 key holding down the right shift key and then change to holding down the left shift key to access the number 9 key. My hands can't flow with the pinkies hung up like that. It would also be nice to have a single key that would put me in that state with both capslk and shift "on" so I can just toggle that and get busy. Could I also make another keyboard file and use it as needed and restore the original keyboard file? Then I could possibly map the special keys in a "normal" state.

I'm a Mac user and I'd like to flip scroll directions as in OS X. I'm too used to it now and I get confused when I try to scroll in Windows. I just need mouse wheel up to be mouse wheel down, and mouse wheel down to be mouse wheel up.

I currently use an AutoHotkey (http://www.autohotkey.com/) script to accomplish this, but I would much rather remove that software layer (which frequently breaks and throws errors) and just flip the inputs with SharpKeys.

Is this possible? If so, how would I go about applying the change? If not, is it planned or possible to add to SharpKeys?

Hi, I've got an Apple Wireless keyboard and I would like to map the ESC and the DELETE keys to it. When I try to do this, I can not do it to the logically located keys as they are not recognized by Sharkeys.

I get the following errors for the first:

"You pressed (00_100)", then I hit enter and get: "You've entered a key that Sharpkeys doesn't know about. Please check the Sharpkeys web site for an updated release"

The above key is used for Onening the browser in a Mac, actually it does on Windows 7 as well.

The second key dosen't even give an error, it has the shape of a lock and its located on the top right corner of the apple keyboard.

New Post: SharpKeys will not uninstall

First, I installed this program so I could remap some keys for Grand Theft Auto 4. The game will not allow me to use certain keys, so I figured this program would solve my problem. I remapped the "Home" key with the "number pad star" key, which worked fine in windows, but GTA4 would still see the original keys, so basically it didn't work for that game. Other games I have do see the keys as being remapped, but GTA4 does not.

So, I uninstalled GTA4 since I'm not about to play the game using the annoying default keys, and I also wanted to uninstall SharpKeys since I don't need it at this time, but when I attempt to uninstall SharpKeys from Windows 7, nothing happens. I removed the remapped keys and I restarted my computer and I then went to "Control Panel/Programs and Features" and I right click on "SharpKeys" and I select "Uninstall/Change" and nothing happens at all.

How do I uninstall SharpKeys?
